Who it is for

How to find domain rating without opening an SEO suite

Type a domain into the box above and a score appears. That is the whole trick. The number runs from 0 to 100 and comes from one input, the count of distinct sites that link to the domain.

For a product or growth team the interesting part is what happens next. A single lookup is trivia, but the same lookup scripted for 40 competitors and 12 partner sites turns into a tile that your finance lead, your CEO and your sales director can all read without a glossary.

Our formula is public, and you can read how we explain it to a board in the reporting runbook: round(100 log(ref_domains + 1) / log(2 10^7)). Anyone on your team can recompute it. Try it. That matters when a stakeholder asks why the tile moved from 41 to 42, and you need an answer better than a shrug.

Checklist

Before a link metric goes on a shared dashboard

  • One source per chart. Never plot our DR beside Ahrefs DR or Moz DA in the same column.
  • A named question the tile answers, such as 'are we closing the gap with the two rivals sales keeps mentioning?'
  • A refresh rhythm that matches the data. Our index refreshes roughly monthly, so a daily pull only repeats yourself.
  • A footnote that says the score is a log scale and that late gains crawl.
  • A cost line: one credit is $0.0001, and one call can cover up to 2,000 domains.
  • A named owner who can say what the number cannot show, like link quality or traffic.

How it works

From a lookup to a reporting tile

  1. 1

    Check one domain by hand

Use the free lookup on this page and confirm the score looks sane for a site you know well.

  2. 2

    Sign in with Google

You get $100 of free credit, which is 1,000,000 credits. No card is asked for.

  3. 3

Pull your list in one call

Send a comma-separated list to bulk_dr. Up to 2,000 domains cost a single credit.

  4. 4

    Store the snapshot

Write the rows into your warehouse or a sheet with the date, and chart the change per month.

One request for a whole competitor set

Replace the key with your own. The response lists a DR per domain and the cost of the call.

curl -s "https://rankwiser.app/api.php?action=bulk_dr&key=sk_live_..." \
  -d "domains=acme.com,rival-one.io,rival-two.co"

Where we fit

A link-data tap, not a full SEO suite

RankWiser is for teams that need link numbers on a schedule at a low per-call price. For keyword research, rank tracking and a daily-fresh crawl, Ahrefs or Semrush are the fuller products, and you may well keep one of them.

  • Our data refreshes about once a month
  • DR here is our own metric, not Ahrefs DR or Moz DA
  • Prepaid credit, from $0.10 per 1,000 calls

FAQ

Questions from teams who report on links

How do I find domain rating for a competitor without paying for a suite?

Use the free lookup on this page, which calls the domain action and needs no key. For many sites at once, send them to bulk_dr: one credit, which is $0.0001, scores up to 2,000 domains. The score is our own DR, so keep it separate from other vendors.

Is this DR the same as Ahrefs DR or Moz DA?

No. It is our own metric, built only from the number of referring domains in our index. It resembles those scores in spirit. Never plot them in one column, because each vendor crawls differently and the gaps are not constant.

How often should a dashboard refresh the number?

Monthly. Our index refreshes roughly once a month, so a link won last week may not show yet. Pulling daily costs almost nothing but adds noise to your chart, so a monthly snapshot with the date stored is the cleaner habit.

What would a stakeholder ask me about a DR tile?

Usually: what does the number mean, why did it move, and should we care? Answer with the log-scale formula, the referring-domain counts behind it, and a rival for comparison. Our runbook for board reports has wording you can reuse.

What does it cost to track fifty domains every month?

Fifty domains fit in one bulk_dr call, so a monthly pull costs one credit, or $0.0001. Adding refdomains for a deeper look costs two credits per call. The $100 free credit would cover the pull for longer than the project lives.

Can I use this instead of Majestic or Moz in a pipeline?

For link counts and a 0-100 score, yes, and you pay per call with no subscription. It does not copy their proprietary metrics such as Trust Flow or Domain Authority, so check that your report does not depend on them first.
